Young Stars Smash Records at KIUG 2025 Athletics Showdown

New Delhi, India – The 2025 Khelo India University Games (KIUG) athletics events on December 5 showcased a remarkable surge of young talent from across the nation at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. University athletes from 120 institutions competed fiercely, breaking records and setting new performance benchmarks in both track and field events.

The competition featured various sprints such as the 100m, 200m, and 400m races. Aman Singh, representing Delhi University, delivered a spectacular run in the men’s 100m final, clocking 10.12 seconds and breaking a decade-old KIUG record. Expressing his excitement, Singh said, “It’s a proud moment to represent my university and set a new record. This motivates me to aim for national championships.”

In the women’s 400m event, Priya Sharma from Mumbai University earned gold with a personal best and new meet record timing of 52.30 seconds. She credited the support of her coaches and family, noting, “Their encouragement kept me going through tough training days.”

Record-Breaking Achievements in Field Events

Field events witnessed extraordinary talents as well, notably Ajay Kumar of Punjab University, who set a new KIUG record in the javelin throw by reaching 78.45 meters—surpassing the previous mark by over 2 meters. His achievement signals a promising future for Indian athletics.

Coach Neeraj Verma emphasized the importance of the KIUG platform: “The KIUG platform is crucial for spotting future heroes. The energy and commitment of these young athletes promise a bright future for Indian athletics.”
