Rohit Yadav Shines with Gold as Indian Athletics Stars Dominate Delhi Leg

Rohit Yadav delivered a spectacular performance by clinching the gold in the men’s javelin event at the third leg of the Indian Athletics Series held in New Delhi. His remarkable personal best throw of 82.50 meters in the fifth round outshone the competition, including Arjun Patel and Simon Raju, who took silver and bronze with throws of 80.10 meters and 78.95 meters, respectively.

The event also highlighted stellar achievements in sprinting. On the men’s side, national sprint champion Anil Kumar won the 100 meters in a quick 10.15 seconds, while Priya Singh dominated the women’s 200 meters with a time of 23.85 seconds. Both athletes emphasized the importance of this series for preparing for international competitions.

Notable Performances in Middle-Distance and Field Events

The middle-distance races featured strong efforts despite warm weather conditions. Vikram Thapa secured the men’s 1500 meters title with a strategic finish in 3 minutes 41 seconds. The women’s 800 meters saw a fierce contest between Meera Chopra and Simran Kaur, with Chopra narrowly winning in 2 minutes.

Field events beyond javelin also thrilled the audience. Ravi Deshmukh took gold in the long jump with a leap of 7.85 meters, while Anjali Verma won the women’s long jump at 6.45 meters.

The series plays a crucial role for athletes aiming to improve rankings and secure places in international championships. Coaches were highly impressed with the competition’s standard and anticipate strong performances from Indian athletes at the upcoming Asian Games.
